Steve Jobs hat heute Nacht angekündigt, seinen Posten als CEO von Apple zu verlassen. Angekündigt hat Jobs das in einem offenen Brief, welcher auf Apple.com veröffentlicht wurde:

Letter from Steve Jobs

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Jobs tritt zurück, weil er sich nicht im Stande fühlt, alle Verantwortungen und Aufgaben als CEO von Apple zu erfüllen. Neuer CEO wird Tim Cook, das hat sich auch Jobs gewünscht und ist ein logischer Schritt. Während den Abwesenheiten von Jobs hat Tim Cook jeweils die Geschäfte geführt und das eigentlich ganz gut. Steve Jobs bleibt Apple aber erhalten als Verwaltungsratspräsident von Apple.

Wir alle wussten das es einmal so weit kommen würde. Meiner Meinung nach wird es mit Apple wie bisher weiter gehen. Steve hat die Marschrichtung vorgegeben und sich einen Stab zusammen gestellt, welche seine Visionen weiter leben. Kommt dazu, dass Steve sicher auch mal dem Tim die eine oder andere Idee zukommen lassen kann… Gespannt bin ich auch, wie die Aktienmärkte auf diese Nachricht reagieren…
